AREA 88: UH-1D Iroquois (Old Man McCoy)
1
May 2, 2021Yes. The UH-1D IS indeed also known as the Bell Jetranger 205... but did you have to write it on the box, man?2
May 2, 2021Just look at those deep dark green sprues. Not a ton in this kit, is there?3
May 2, 2021Well, as usual, let's start by putting together the interior. Even though the door is going to be wide open, I don't really feel like going to town on the interior details.4
May 2, 2021Overal interior coat of grey... with some aluminium seats for the pilots. Good!5
May 5, 2021Just a bit of dry brushing on the control column. Even with the door wide open, the seats will be blocking a lot of it from view. I think it adds enough detail to catch the eye in passing though.6
May 5, 2021All buttoned up. A first pass of sanding, with some thin Tamiya cement to fill in part of the cracks with plastic dust. This is an old kit though, so it'll take some putty for sure.7
May 26, 2022More putty and sanding on the seams. Looks good to go. All the many windows are masked up (even though the loose fit made the glue run all over the place) and I added a temporary "door" to keep the outside paint outside.8
May 26, 2022First coat... more putty required. It always amazes me how a single coat of paint can reveal gaps and nicks that you swore weren't there a minute ago...9
July 27, 2022Decided to try my hand a freestyling the camouflage. It's only two-tone - Nato Brown on Desert Yellow... how hard could it be? Not sure I did a great job, but it was certainly a lot faster than masking it all out, that's for sure!10
July 27, 2022Not much to tell about the rotor blades... yellow on the tips, black blades, and masked for aluminium rotor shaft. All done!11
