1/72 Boba Fett's Starship Slave 1

Plain plastic, nice details, almost able to make out some model kit parts, its good, but it's not Bandai good. 

 

 

Practiced metal scratch and chip damage, I think it's too much. Will a few paint washes it'll almost disappear.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My very much long awaited build of Boba Fett's Starship from the Empire Strikes Back, Slave 1. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Where I'm at. The rear engine deck is now glued to the upper skirt body. Small engines, built, painted and installed. Some plant on details, radar dish, large engine still to go. Bit more weathering then the back will be done. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Finished a few more bits and pieces, engineering plates, and made a start on the wings, by painting up and weathering the main wing support arms. 

Wing main arm supports painted up and slightly weathered. 

Just the radar dish, and a few greeblie details left on the underside, I can make a start on the wings, then move onto the main body. 

 

More and more bits added to the bottom of the ship.

One wing almost done. Just needing a tidy up and some more scratches. 

 

 

Worked on the left and right stabilizer fins, and the sensor dish array. Enjoyed the layering build, paint and weather. Just the pistons to put in, then these parts are finally finished. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Getting there, the bottom is now finished.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Made a start on painting the Slave 1's skirt, putting on the light grey, that will have a pink tinge, then I'll come in and do some muck washes, panel line chips and a bit of micro brush detail painting. 

 

 

 

 

WIP continues. Washes chipping and weathering. Going for a old battered look, not screen accurate, just rule of cool, because life's too short, and it's just going to get dusty on my shelf.
Painted with old, new hobby store, and vallejo acrylics, weathered with watered down artists acrylics, painted by hand with a brush. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Started on the other side, still aways to go. I'll tackle the front panel and the rear halves tomorrow. Pleasantly surprised at how this is shaping up. Its all painted with hobby store artists and Vallejo acrylics, by hand with brushes. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

That's it for today,
Slowly moving round the armour apron. Washes,and then build up of painted layers, then more washes, painted scratches, and then another wash. For something I thought I'd never be able to do, I'm enjoying the process. I've had this kit since around 2010. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Done for the day. Looking good I think. I guess Boba bought new wings at some point, as they are considerably cleaner than the rest of the ship. My ambition, is to one day paint up a studio scale kit of an A-Wing or the Slave 1, in a similar style, ah one day.

Putting together the main body was a bit of a pain, Bandai this kit isn't. Built and installed the cockpit, and tiny Boba. Starting to paint up the main body, greeny grey base first, then washes, and I'll paint the weathering, scratches and chips as I go. Still quite a fair bit to do. I will wake the red back up on the skirt as one of the last things I do.
