No Valve Push Rods Present. 

Don't understand the need for the Valve Push Rods. They will not be seen from the front. I don't even know if the can be seen from the rear because the cowl may be close to the fuselage. 

Completed engine with Valve push rods. 

First Stage Sanding of edges around the top of the wing. 

Just like the original mould of the bottom of the wing from the Hawk kit. I "eyeballed" the lines for the new piece attached. Next step, some more sanding. 

 

 

Missing piece is in place and ready 

Not great at people but only one way to get better. 

Wife's advent wine bottle makes a great holder for the pilot figure. 

Though pilot will be difficult to see needed put forth best effort for improvement. 

Filling in gaps on landing gear.

All pieces will be painted separately and then glued together. 

Windshield doesn't fit perfectly into place as you can see from the edges of the side of the plane.

Expected from old kits. Will try and clean up before paint. 

 

Used a sprue to see how the paint will contrast with the primer. Can you guess which black I went with? 

 

I was quite pleased with the Gundam Red and how it was pretty close to the original plastic red without the plasticity of styrene without paint. 

Step one of 3 masking for the black streaks. Time consuming but very easy with the Tamiya masking tape. 

Metalic Black didn't work as well as I though it would. Pulled an audible and went the Semi-Gloss Black instead. 

Black laid down great. Some areas of overspray but not too bad.

For some reason the Testors/Hawk decals have the tail plane decal facing the same direction unlike the original Hawk kit decals had them facing opposite directions for both sides of the vertical stab. 

Clear Matte Varnish Coat 

I guess I am going to educate myself on decal reproduction. 

Next time when in doubt. Repair with Microscale. 

Last wing decal didn't make it after repair with Micro Set. My education in decal reproduction was productive. See final photo.
